About Me
Length: Well, that’s an awfully personal question, but if we’re measuring, I’m about 89 minutes. Yeah, that sounds short, but we all know that it’s not about runtime, it’s about how you use it. And hey, if you’re uptight or overly sensitive, I’ll feel WAY longer.
Occupation: I hesitate to call myself a documentary, because that word implies a certain degree of objectivity, and objectifying people is wrong! But let’s be real, an unbiased viewpoint is unrealistic in today’s world, and the last thing I want to do is deceive you (or at least, it’s low on my to-do list). So whether I’m a documentary, a social satire, or an exploitative exposé… hard to say. Some might even call me a shamelessly chauvinistic sex comedy, but they’re just jealous. You know what… I’m just as true and objective as ‘Reality TV’ or ‘The News’ so yeah, I’m a Documentary. Trust me.
Subjects of Interest: When a struggling filmmaker named David Bush discovered an actor friend’s talent for online seduction, he saw an opportunity to shed light on the ubiquity of deception (he wanted to see local girls naked and vicariously live through his buddy’s sexploits) but he never expected that he’d be drawn past the limits of morality and legality into a world where his own artifice would turn around and deconstruct not only him, but also the system that empowered him. Or something like that.
Where am I from?
David Bush directed me BUT if my message is somehow misconstrued as misogynistic, he’ll no doubt blame the ‘cast’ and crew. Is that fair? I mean yeah, he wrote faith-based films like One Nation Under God (starring Kevin Sorbo) and directed Lifetime movies like A Deadly Affair and Did I Kill My Mother? so sure, he sounds reputable, but if a guy named David Bush directs and co-producers a movie about a ‘character’ named David Bush and casts himself in it then turns around and says it’s not about him… well, you know what, maybe he’ll be President someday.
What do people say about me?
(I don’t like to talk about ex-viewers, but they sure like to talk about me, so…)
‘A disturbing but sexy look at the world of dating in the 21st century.’
-Rian Johnson
‘An incredibly crafted and painfully timely look at the lies we tell.’
-John Williams
‘Aren’t we gonna get sued for attributing quotes to those people?’
-Sam Claitor (producer)
‘Nope, I actually know people in the industry with those names.’
-David Bush (director)
What else should you know about me?
(Probably the less the better, but…)
- I was shot on 4 iPhones. I know this sounds unsane, but trust me, it works.
- I come with strong language, weak morals, and some graphic nudity.
- If ‘lay’ is the past tense of ‘lie’, then I’m a great that.
